The Wandering Catholic began with a simple frustration.

As an avid hiker and lifelong Catholic, I love exploring America's national parks and spending as much time as possible on the trail. But every trip seemed to include the same challenge: finding a Catholic Mass nearby.

I found myself jumping between Google maps, parish websites, and outdated directories, trying to figure out where and when I could attend Mass. Eventually, I decided there had to be a better way.

The Wandering Catholic was created to make it easier for Catholics to find Masses while still enjoying the remote beauty that America's national parks have to offer. Whether you're planning a weekend backpacking trip, a family vacation, or a cross-country road trip, this site is designed to help you stay connected to your faith wherever your adventures take you. Every park listing is built with one goal in mind: saving you time so you can spend less time searching and more time enjoying God's creation.

This is a one-person passion project, built by a Franciscan tertiary who believes that the beauty of the outdoors and the beauty of the Catholic faith belong together. Standing on a mountain summit, walking through an ancient forest, or watching the sunrise over a canyon reminds us of the Creator behind it all. After all, Jesus wandered out into the Judaean Desert for a reason.
